Some of you might look at this photo and immediately get some sort of a rush of emotions. Maybe you think “Ew. Joel Osteen.” Maybe the words “False Prophet” are swirling about in your head.
I have seen an immense amount of backlash against this man. I have heard many say that he teaches a false gospel and is leading many astray.
I agree.
But I have also seen that taken a stop further. I have seen him as the butt of jokes, and made into a mockery among Christians.
Yes. It is important to make others aware of his false gospel. We should spread truth to those who follow him. But friends, do not make fun of him. Do not make memes of him. Where is the love of Christ in that?
We are to “correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”
Be careful with what you say friends. Correcting, rebuking, and encouraging is pretty straightforward. I don’t see “mock, tease, or ridicule” in there.
Pray for this man. Pray that his eyes are opened. Pray that whatever is clouding his vision dissolves, and that he sees the true Word of God for what it truly is.
He is a human being like the rest of us, and terribly misled as many of us previously were (and may still be.)
What if, instead of mocking this man, we all prayed for him. Imagine what could happen.
Pray for Joel Osteen. We can do this.
Whoaaa, conviction. I needed to read this. I hope someone else can also gain something from reading this.
